It’s almost April?

Seriously? It’s almost April? Real life question to anyone that still shows up to read this haphazard mess of a blog — WHERE DID MARCH GO?

I distinctly remember thinking January would NEVER end and now I’m starting to root through our spring and summer clothes bins in sheer panic because spring break vacay starts this weekend. And I’m just over here like wait, what, it’s APRIL?! I missed an entire month!! What the what?!
Good golly we have been SO busy.  But good busy, working hard to make our dreams into realities and having so much fun in the process!

We celebrated St. Patrick’s day TWICE - which is always something we’re down for. Louisville always holds the St. Paddy’s parade the Saturday before the actual holiday. The weather was great and we’ll take any excuse to go have fun with our pals!
The birthday party circuit continued and the kiddos had a super fun party at the science center!
Bennett and Lainey aren’t falling far from the tree and are learning to use the cameras in our phones/iPads etc and I always find the funniest photos at random times.
St. paddy’s celebrations part two and SEASON OPENER for our boys in purple!! Yayy soccer season!

Also, B completed his Ninjago LEGO thing that has been taking up lots of his time right before the big game and he was super pumped!

We came away with the victory and headed straight to watch our Wildcats in the NCAA tourney and Lainey managed to eat all of the dessert and miss all of the game.

B had a sleepover with his cousins after the game and thought he was super big time.

Lainey has figured out she can wear a princess crown whenever she wants and takes the role very seriously.

The first day of spring arrived and we woke up looking like this ...

8-9 inches of snow was an awesome and unexpected way to begin a fresh new season and we made the absolute most of every inch!

We’ve spent the majority of the month in pizza halls, pub grub sports bars or friends’ living rooms watching all of March Madness - and that could account for some of the reason I’ve missed the entire month. Whoops. But we’ve sure had a lot of fun!!

Lainey nailed the Easter Bunny picture again this year :) .. that’s photo number three in a row of complete meltdown while in creepy bunny’s lap! But atleast she did okay for the cute “spring photos” the mall added on.

And last but not least our favorite little tee ballers are underway! Practice has started with games beginning next week and even though Lainey isn’t officially on the team, you’d never know it.

We’ve got a HUGE week ahead with the soft opening of the taproom <FINALLY> yayy hubs!! Lots of “things” and getting ready for Spring Break!! Welp see ya later March, sorry we missed each other this year ... maybe I’ll see ya next time!!

Life Lately

Shane had an event Tuesday night, and I was home alone sitting at the counter chatting with my kiddos (as I do at nearly some point in every day) and I felt myself standing in the shoes of my own mother. (Photo kindly taken by my 4.5 year old budding photographer of a son!)She always tells us the 30 minutes after school was the best part of her day. It was the debrief. The mornings were always rushed and hustled getting everyone out the door, checklisting all of the day’s items, the hours in between were filled with a long list of “things” - some memorable, others not and more mundane-  but after school for 30 minutes we would all sit around, have a snack and chat. We would laugh about stories of the day, Pick on one another as siblings do, and just be. All before scampering off to our own rooms to get into the evening’s homework, practices, etc. and there I was relishing in the debrief time with my kids. I’m officially 100% immersed in motherhood and sometimes I can’t quite grasp how quickly it’s moving.

Looking back on this month’s events and realizing how quickly time is passing has my heart in a bit of a knot today. That, and the events of last week has me feeling all sorts of hug everyone you know and CHERISH all of it! Last week’s events have me all emotional this week - but we’ll get into that in a minute Ute.

Whew. Okay, switching gears .. a little less heaving and a little more here’s where we are in life at the moment. Taking it way back, Valentine’s Day came and went complete with fun exchanges at school and our tradition of homemade heart shaped pizzas

Post Valentines brought us some nice weather and some much needed time OUTSIDE with trips to the zoo, practice swinging our baseball bats (season starts in two weeks!), and patio beers! AMEN!

We’ve had some fun adult times too. It’s the season of fundraiser and PTO events with trivia nights, auctions, birthday parties, plays, dinners, etc.

With all of the events mania and pedis were in order and bitty got her nails done for the first time! Be still my heart.

And most importantly, we said goodbye to a very special lady last week. My grandmother passed away at 88 years old and she will be greatly missed. She truly left a legacy for our family. Funerals are always unexpected family time, and I hate they have to happen ... but I do love the extra time with family. We love you forever Motsy. And that’s a little bit of life lately.
