Summer Should Get a Speeding Ticket

Is it really already the middle of June?! How in the world did this happen. I swear just yesterday I was wearing a hoodie and jeans to ward off the chilly spring temps ... and now I'm full on sweating, looking to next month and realizing Summer is already going wayyyy too fast!  We've been so busy, and that's making the long summer days seem short!

I pray we get to move in to the new house before summer draws to a close, because I really really want some memories of my kiddos at this age grilling out on the new back deck and swimming in out pool. And to be 100% honest, I really would just love my own TV and space, so when we are inside during the hottest part of the day I'm not required to listen to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for the 400th time. Is this renovation ever going to be over?!?! Good grief! I'm working on a house update post, but for now ... I'll leave you with this. EEEEEEKKKKS! Ch-Ch-Ch-changes!!
Other than house hooplah, we've had a bunch of distracting activities.

Like hitting up the splash park with our pals...
Sleeping in until way too late ... we blame it on summer.
Being adorable in our costume jewelry.
All. The. Time.
Having fun lunch dates.
Spending as much time visiting the ball park concession stand as possible, bring on all the lollies and snow cones please.
Having more lunch dates with this crazy fella.
Riding the fun animals at the mall, because how else would we get through a Tuesday afternoon?

Hitting up the movie theater for take out popcorn (this is a legitimate thing we do way too frequently) and screening Beauty and the Beast on Bubby's mattress in the living room.
Heading off to Summer Camp together.

Hitting up games to see our favorite soccer team play, Louisville City FC...

And playing and playing and playing with our buddies.
Hubs and I had a date night with some pals to see Dave Chappelle at the Palace.
We had another adult night and spent an awesome evening by the water celebrating Wes's 30th at Captain's Quarters. The weather was the absolute best!

We wrapped spring tee-ball and little mister did AWESOME at his last game. Their little team has improved so much from the start of the season.

 He proudly accepted his trophy.

And then (enthusiastically  begrudgingly) posed with everyone.

We had a graduation party for Uncle Max and an early send off before he makes his way to the west coast. These littles even adorned his graduation gear for a fun inclusion in an awesome movie my mom and his buddy, Grant, made for the party.

He's getting ready to begin filming a film he's planning to submit to festivals this fall, Plastic Funerals, and mom did a great job incorporating all of those fun details into the party, but I failed to get any great pics.
It was a great night being surrounded by so many people who love him.

We've spent soooo much time in the pool, our little water babies LOVE to swim.
And we're soaking up our last month in the little house behind the grandparents. Even though we are ready to be in the new house, we sure are going to miss having PaPaw and GoGo in our front yard.
We've still got LOTS of summer ahead of us and if it's anything like what's already behind us we couldn't be more excited!

Sibling Sweetness at Summer Camp

Ahhh Summertime, sweet summertime. We're rolling right along with all of our summer dreams. Complete with sidewalk chalk, berries with whipped cream, sun tea in the window, catching fireflies, graduation parties, ball games, cookouts with our pals, late night swims and all the fun.

Furthermore, I realize just last week I posted backpack photos of our B Bear and his last day of school. So, the irony is not lost on me, that I'm back here today posting backpack pics of the kiddos today - HA! - but, it's two totally different things ... so you're stuck with backpack pictures of my kids again today. It's summer, and my creativity and originality get a few months off too ... Deal with it! :)

Last week kicked off the kid's summer camp session and all the sibling sweetness you can imagine. I planned to get Lainey a backpack in the fall when she officially starts preschool this year.  But, my girlfriend informed me Pottery Barn Kids has all of their last season backpacks and lunch boxes 60-75% off in store right now (and more sales online) and I couldn't pass it up. Bennett happened to be with me on shopping day, and of course had to have a new one too! But when a Pottery Barn backpack and matching superhero lunchbox are only $20 total, you oblige and make that sweet (almost) four year old's day!

And then, when it's time for Summer Camp to start you put their backpacks on and make them take sweet photos of course!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Summer Camp FUN!

"Wait Lainey, your pig tail got messed up!" ~ Thank goodness for big brothers :)

Gotta get those backpacks monogrammed before preschool starts this fall -- any grandparents reading this and wanna make that their summer project :) ?? Pretty please!
And off they go. Hand in hand and "cracking my heart up" (When they are being sweet Bennett always asks, "Does that crack your heart up mommy?" - Because I always tell him when he's being sweet it melts my heart, or him growing up breaks my heart -- and he somehow combined all thoughts and now it simply "cracks my heart." Gah, I love todder talk).

Schools Out for Summer

And that's a wrap on our second year of preschool! I can't believe my little man is old enough to have already completed two years of this! Where does the time go?!! Is there ever a point in a mother's life where she stops muttering that sentence? Good grief!

This year was a big one for Bennett, because we up and moved in the middle of the year. So he started out the year at our beloved preschool in Nashville with all of his pals going two days a week, and finished the year in Louisville, Kentucky with a new school, new friends, and three days a week. It was a rocky start and a big change for a little guy! He still has his "I miss Nashville and my buddies" moments ... but he's doing so great and is really coming around. This little mister made me extra proud this year!

You may notice, t the beginning of the year we had ambitious goals to be a Fireman. But at the end of the year, we're aspiring to be a giant rat :) ... Master Splinter is the leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so maybe we can look at this and see some budding leadership skills!! MaKenzie also reminded me, he's really only a rat because of an unfortunate evening when radioactive matter was poured down the sewer drain ... so it's really not that bad. HAHA!

His last day of "school" was actually the Wednesday before ... and his final "day" was Friday ... but it simply consisted of a fun party in the gym with an art show of all of the little's best work. The art show didn't begin until 10am, so the littles and I headed out for a celebratory end of the year breakfast, which was equal hilarious and delicious.
Then we headed to preschool to find Bennett's artwork in the art show and mingle with all of his new pals and their families. Lainey will attend the program in the fall, and after watching her meander through the gym with the other kiddos I have no doubt she will fit right in.

After walking the entire gym, we walked it one more time and finally found his beautiful coffee filter and egg crate butterfly :)
He was super proud and we added it to his artwork scrapbook. Once we get moved into the new house I have ambitious goals to create a little plastic organizer box my gal Emily at Three Boys and A Girl blog shared with me. But, we'll cross that bridge when we get there :)
In the meantime, we're saying adios preschool ... see ya next year ... we've got SUMMERTIME to celebrate!
