Cabinet Designs

Hey Gang! I'm here today to share some sneak peeks of our cabinet designs! If you've been following along or would like to reference our renovation project to date, feel free to catch up here:

And here we are, to all of the fun stuff - finalizing the INSIDE!  I've received all of my sample doors, and I'm totally in love. Again, we're sticking with a farmhouse theme and going distressed and neutral on most of the designs. They are in production by Blue River Cabinetry and I'm hoping to pick out my hardware next week. I only have a couple of "real life" pictures I took at the tile shop, but I screen shotted my 20/20 drawings so you can see the layouts as well.

Starting in the kitchen ... I've chosen a faux brick backsplash and absolutely LOVE this tile. The grayish tone will be going in the kitchen and the red tone will be used as flooring in our hall/mudroom bath. And you can see the mix of cabinet colors we'll be using all throughout the first floor. The wall cabinets (most of the cabinetry actually) will be the distressed white and the island and wet bar will be the stained knotty alder (LOVE the exposed knots in the wood).

Wet bar ... the top wine racks when complete will only have one large "X" in the middle and the cabinets on the outside will actually be installed with the doors but we're removing the panels and I'm going to staple some chicken wire inside so it will be a pseudo open shelving concept. I stole this great idea from Erin when we visited her home a few weeks back ~ LOVE ~ And, my beloved husband some how weaseled his way into getting a Kegerator in our kitchen, HA! I guess when you're the President of a brewery it kind of comes with the job ...

 The pantry:

The entire kitchen from above...

Moving to the laundry room, theses will be simple mission style cabinets and I'm painting them a very neutral gray, and then I'm making the room a little more sassy by doing a fun teal on the walls.

Next, we're inside the downstairs mudroom bath and this is where that pretty brick tiled will be laid. I'm also adding a reclaimed wood wall and I found the cutest little farmhouse sink that will sit inside the vanity (EEK!) and guys the lights and the toilet paper holder (ha! really though) I bought this week .... geeze who knew I could love a bathroom so much!

The master bath and closet. I'm still toying with this design a bit, because we've ordered a couple of window options that would change the layout, but this will be the general theme. I've got a crazy idea to do an accent wall inside my shower with tile (I know, bizarre) but I kind of love it. I'll share once I've made the final decision.
Then, heading up to the upstairs bathrooms ... these rooms we're not doing much too. I'm leaving the existing tile and simply painting it white to update (because, it's currently pepto bismal pink...) but they're just getting a new vanity and a fresh paint job. They're essentially the same room just opposite one another. I also decided not to center the sinks and instead give the bathroom more counter space. I can't decide if I'm going to love or hate that decision, but I'm gonna roll with it.

And last but not least, the tiniest little's big bathroom! I'm totally in love with her tile paired with the distressed cabinets, and when I showed the selections to Shane he actually asked if we could put it in our master instead because he loves it so much too! Ha!

And she's got a pretty fancy closet too. Whew, hopefully when she's a teenager she'll appreciate it.
And that's a little peek inside what's to come!  I'm doing a lot of wood counter tops and the cabinet company is making those as well, and anywhere else I'm selecting granite. I met with the granite company and I'm really only selecting for the kitchen and I think I know what I'm going with there. And everything else he has a giant remanent yard of leftover granite from other jobs. You can get any grade for the same price and it's an awesome way to save some $$ ... so I'll be selecting all of our bathrooms and what not from the leftovers of other jobs.

Feel free to skip over this portion of my notes (it's more for my memory bank later) but if you're curious ... A breakdown of the colors/stains we'll be doing in each room are as follows:

Reno, Reno, Renovate!

Whew! Guys, A LOT has changed at the new house. The last time I checked in was back in February,  and we had torn down most of the walls and the demo phase of the project was just about complete. Since then, I've shared a few photos here and there, but I'm ready for a full update of where things are today.

Framing for the new layout is complete. The addition is completely up and we're just waiting on the siding (which was delivered yesterday). HVAC and Plumbing are complete and inspections are finished. Our cabinetry is in production. I'm ordering flooring and lighting this week. We've got a few more days of electrician work and post electrical inspections we'll begin insulation and drywall. It's all coming together folks!

Quoting my contractor "there is a lot that has to happen ... but a lot can happen ... and if all of that happens, I'm hoping you'll be in by the first week of June" (that's a LOT happenin' - but I'll take it!).

Here's a little looksie:

The new addition -- at various points of framing and roofing.

See that little side porch...the way the house is laid out I have a feeling that will end up being our front door, so I'm currently deciding on a fun color to paint it :) I don't know why I'm so excited about that little side porch, but I kind of love it. #BackDoorGuestsAreBest
Taking a step inside ... the new great room addition

A look into the kitchen/dining/great room - aka - where we're going to live all of our life!
And we done ripped off the top of the stairs so we could open up the foyer for anyone that actually uses our front door :)
And for good measure, I ripped out the wall of the basement staircase too ... because I'm imagining a beautiful iron banister ... and being able to tell my children to stop fighting over their toys while in the basement -- all the way from the kitchen so I don't have to go down the stairs (HA! Yeahhhh right.)
Momma and Daddy got a big fancy shower with a shower head on either side.
Lainey got herself a fancy bathtub ...
Bennett got a new window because the new roof line kind of stole his other one...
The plumber really did a number on the basement ceiling .. oh vey.....
And, I was also feeling tenacious one day and showed up at the job site (usually not a good combo) ... I pulled one of the demo guys from his current job and instructed him to rip off the beautifully paneled fireplace (you can sort of see the old paneling in the stair pic above). We discussed the pros and cons of this action prior. And essentially I was channeling my inner Joanna Gaines and was bound and determined we would find greatness if we ripped off the masterfully crafted wood (he agreed, but was reluctant). And guess what ... WE DID!!!!! SOLID brick fireplace smack dab in the middle of the my kitchen. Oh my swoon. So. In. LOVE. I think I'm going to German Schmear (google it) it and it will probably be my most favorite thing in the entire house. And I wasn't even planning for it! YAYYYY.
I'm working on compiling a post of lots of my selections, because I need some help deciding between this and that and would love some input. But in the meantime, come on June! The kids and I are ready to start making memories in this backyard.

So while I'm doing all of that I'll leave you with a few magical moments from the happiest place on Earth and promise to check in soon with a full recap of the trip and big house update!

Have a great week gang!

Toodle-oo March

And just like that our magnificent March has come to an end and we're steaming full speed ahead into April. We rounded out the month by meeting up and spending a great day in Lexington, KY with some of our favorites. Our new little miss, Brighton Marie, her big sisters, beautiful momma, MaKenzie, and Aunt Toby!

I've mentioned before, the new house will be Farmhouse decor, and my Aunt has a niece on the other side of her family that has very similar taste. Erin has a BEAUTIFUL home in Nicholasville, KY ... just outside of Lexington and it is what dreams are made of. Guys, her hardwood floors are made of legit barnwood. Like the entire home is floored in an old barn. Swoon. So, when we were talking about our new house one day, Aunt Toby wanted me to walk through the house before I got too far into selecting my finishes, in case I found some great ideas. Plus, we never pass on an opportunity to play together!
I love how she re purposed an old antique to become a vanity! So cool.
More barnwood use! Love. I'm doing this in our master bedroom and our hall bath on the first floor and seeing it in action made me 100% certain I've made the right choice!
It was a quick trip, but I loved seeing all these pretty ladies and the home was awesome! Since we were in Lexington ~ aka ~ horse country, we thought it would be a great time to head over to Keeneland and see my momma's racehorse. My dad bought stake in a racehorse for my mom for their anniversary this year and perfectly enough he was being trained that morning at the track. Spring meet begins next week, so all of the horses are working out at Keeneland. Spring meet brings back so many college memories ... but taking my babies to the track was certainly different than I remember from college, HA!

We gave them donuts to give them a little sugar boost, to ensure they'd last long enough to walk through the stables and hang with Honor Mission, our horsey!
Horseys and littles. Kentucky can be pretty perfect.
We woke Honor Mission up from his nap ... ain't he pretty!?
And momma was reunited with mister.
And Lainey perfected her horse sounds.
And then we all gave him a little lovin'

It was a perfect day <3

And then we cruised into our low key weekend getting ready for our big Spring Break trip this week - DISNEY!!! Of course we forgot to pack the kiddos travel stuff when we moved back from Nash, so we had to rebuy all of their headphones, etc. (moving/packing fail). But Bennett was pretty amazed by Best Buy and Lainey liked the new way to ride in the cart ... so we'll count it as a win.

We packed, we prepped, we hung out, we kicked off spring break with ice cream for dinner with a visit to my childhood ice cream joint, Berry Twist, and we even made it to Tee-Ball! It was the perfect cruise into our magical week and I absolutely cannot wait!

So toodle-oo March ... we're heading to the most magical place on earth and kicking off April in the best possibly way! Oooooooohhhhh toodles!!!! M-I-C-K-E-Y!!!!!!!!!!
